Hi. I’m Emily Geizer. The author here at Child Perspective.
This blog is not your typical mommy blog full of daily activities, favorite recipes, true confessions, and rants. There are plenty of great mommy blogs. This is something different.
This is an educational resource for parents who:
- want to feel motivated, confident, and successful in their parenting, rather than unsure and inadequate
- need expert how-to advice around specific issues, child development, and parenting methodologies
- want convenient and tangible information to be just a click away
I coach those seeking to become exceptional parents. These parents realize that instinct, intuition, and the best intentions often don’t nurture the child’s basic needs, let alone effectively address parenting calamities.
I’m passionate about child psychology/development. I read endlessly in these subjects. My book smarts, formal training and teaching experience combine with my unique superpower to produce a remarkably effective parenting methodology.
“What is this superpower?” surely you are wondering. It is an astute perception of interpersonal dynamics.
How does all of this help you? You will be equipped with critical insight and advice as you need it. In fact, it is likely that you will learn things that you didn’t even know that you didn’t know.
This site is a one-stop-shop. You’ll learn how to avoid the many fallacies of contemporary parenting. I’ll help you replace the countless hours that you spend brainstorming your crisis du jour with informed, confident parenting prowess.
Picture a bonsai tree. Yup, one of those stunning miniature trees. Bonsai trees are painstakingly tended to for the purpose of stunting their natural development. What happens to children who are painstakingly tended to? Bonsai trees are amazing, but stunted children are not! You can read more about this and some other core beliefs by clicking here.
Before developing this online resource, I was a Montessori preschool teacher for nearly a decade. My passion as a teacher was helping the kids who struggled, both socially and academically. This passion helped me develop my astute understanding of what makes each kid thrive. It’s my thing. With my help it can be your thing too.
I live in Durham, NC with my two adorable daughters, Super Dad award-winning husband, and one very lucky dog.
